Yeah I've played it now, and I must say that it is by far the best monster hunter ever.

I really miss the Yian Kut Ku though... It seemed to be replaced by a similar wyvern that calls for help and a really big thing shows up and kicks my ass every time. So basically I just need better gear. Which sucks.... monster hunting should be all about skill..... which I might be lacking too--BUT ANYWAY it must be played with the Wii Classic Controller Pro, mostly because the wiimote sucks for any kind of third person gaming. (Yes, including Zelda)

Maybe its because I'm such a classic style gamer. I still like to go to the arcade every now and then but 25 cent machines are becoming less and less available and even if they are around they are poorly maintained.

I'm thinking about investing in one of these...

even though its not the real deal.

Through ridiculous dumb luck I found Monster Hunter Tri for brand new... FOR $30. FRICK YEAH. Gamaen, what do you think about weapons concerning best for speed and effectiveness. Right now at the start I'm currently using the lance weapon so I can block and attack at the same time. But I'm just curious about your thoughts of the weapons now that you're ahead.

That, and when can I unlock online mode XD

This is where skill comes in.

I recommend the Katana first and foremost. It has the perfect balance of speed and damage as well as dodging on every swing. Though you can't block. I recommend the Antanata Boneblade.

I use pretty much everything now as I have advanced in the game and if you want a fun weapon that does loads of damage and good on the elemental scale, pick the slash axe. It is my favorite weapon next to the great sword. The slash axe is a hard weapon to use as it isn't just hack and slash all the time, a lot of new users get caught up doing easy combos that leave them open as the SA cannot block. This usually ends in tears as an Agnaktor tramples them to sh*t.

Damage output, definetly go with greatsword. Versatility, Sword and Shield (block quick slashes, lots of elemental damage, use items with weapon unsheathed.) Balance, Katana 100%. Entertainment, Slash axe or bowgun. "I win button" weapon, LANCE. (lol)

Online mode is automatically available to you already, when you start they'll give you a code of numbers and letters for your character. When you get that code, post it here and I'll add you as a friend. Then the power leveling will begin! Mwahahhahhahaaaaa!

I haven't been able to reach the part with the katanas just yet, but it sounds very useful. Especially the dodging bit. Sword and Shield sound pretty good as well since I like to focus on speed and versatility in games. Greatswords and Slash Axes sound fun though.

Still using the lance at the moment since I'm low on cash and already spent money on it.

Ok now the fun part! My friend code ID is: 82bvgm. Hope to see ya online sometime.

You bet man, I'll add you next time I'm online. I got Kellen on there with me too so we can all play together.

Do you have a USB keyboard? Kinda need it to communicate, unless you have wii speak or something.

Well I got looking around and I decided this game is worth re-acquiring myself a Wii... and it has nothing at all to do with the semi recent availability of the black Wii.

But I probably won't be able to pick the system up until around the end of the month.

My brother got the black one. Its a great deal and you get ten times more goodies than the first Wii. And it also doesn't change color in two weeks.
